Hi, guys. Richard Nail here with Mike Erdman Toyota, here to take a look at the 2011 Toyota Sienna. I’m going to crack the hood for you. I want to show you what makes this engine so great.

As you come around the side, you’re going to notice a nice chrome finish on the front. In the black in the limited, that is an advanced technology package which features Dynamic Radar Cruise Control right underneath that center piece. All of the 2011 Toyota Siennas feature a 3.5-liter, V6 engine, which has dual variable valve timing with intelligence. It basically monitors your engine performance and your fuel efficiency.

All Toyotas are built with double-thick seals all the way around the compartment. That’s so you have a nice, quiet ride when you drive down the road. Underneath the side, you’ll see little bump wells. That’s crumple-zone technology, so the engine’s designed to fold up like an accordion instead of pushing everything back into the driver's compartment. Also, reinforced j-hooks on the hood to hold it in one piece and keep it from going through the windshield. And in the headlamps, in the limited, that’s a high definition H.I.D. headlamp, High Intensity Discharge headlamp, which means it lights up the road for better performance as you’re driving down the road. Makes objects in the road easier to see and more visible.

Here on the front of the 2011 Toyota Sienna in the middle of the chrome grill, you’re going to notice this little piece right here. This is the Dynamic Radar Cruise Control where it’s hidden in the vehicle. And what that does is, you’re following a vehicle down the highway, it emits a laser beam, so you set your following distance. If the car in front of you slows down, it automatically senses and backs off. Now, underneath this, once I pop the hood, it is a metal sensing unit only, meaning it will only sense metal so that if leaf or any type of debris that's not metal blows across the road, it’s not going to mess up your current cruising speed. Metal-sensing only, and that is the advanced technology that is featured in this Toyota van. In the driver's compartment it features clear canisters in your fluid compartments, and that’s for ease of use and maintenance as an owner. The “O” on the oil dipstick always lets you know where it’s located at. And you’ll find no transmission stick on these new engines because it’s a sealed transmission where the fluid is rated up to 100,000 miles. Therefore, you never need to change it.
